From 2010 to 2020, according to the United States Census Bureau, the New York State dropped from de 3rd position in the rank of the most populous American territories to the 4th, losing only to California, Texas and Florida now.
The governmental search estimate that in July 1, 2020, there were more than 19 million residents in the State. The number represents 5,81% of the total U.S. population.
In terms of economic importance, this area has its own brightness and historical weight, overcoming even the national frontiers, as it reaches more wide scales in the business department.
If NY State was an independent country, it would be considered the 10th largest economy in the whole world. As an intensely urbanized area, in 2015 it was also the State with the highest number of vehicles per 1000 people (539), according to federal sources. According to the 2007-2017 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the New York State was responsible for the largest contribution to the labor productivity growth in its region, comparing to all the other States located in the Northeast of the country.
Albany is the second most productive city of the country, losing only to the West of U.S. Currently, is the town with the highest number of internet service providers available to offer services (20 companies), which means its residents can count on broadband services anywhere in the city.
In relation to the national productivity growth, in this same period, NY contribution was the 3rd largest, coming behind California and Texas, respectively.
